    Elizabeth Mortlock created Laughter Ball Yoga® to help people heal through joy, movement, and breath. Her journey is personal—after being diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in 2006, she turned to laughter, deep breathing, and mindful movement to regain strength and ease pain. This led to the birth of Laughter Ball Yoga®, a practice designed to restore vitality and self-trust.

    Beyond her own healing, Elizabeth has shared this practice with others, including patients and staff at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, proving the power of laughter in mental and physical well-being.

    Today, she is thriving—living proof that joy heals. Through Laughter Ball Yoga®, she empowers others to relieve stress, boost energy, and embrace life with a smile—one breath, one stretch, and one laugh at a time.

  • I have never seen energy and mood shift as quickly as in a Laughter Ball Yoga session. It’s a powerful reminder of how movement, breath, and laughter can instantly transform the way we feel—lifting the spirit, calming the mind, and strengthening the body.

    My journey with Laughter Ball Yoga began in the forensic psychiatry ward of the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, where Elizabeth and I introduced these sessions. As an advanced clinical exercise instructor, I had spent years helping individuals find balance through movement. When I later moved back to the Netherlands with my family, I continued my work as a qualified Psychomotricity Therapist in forensic psychiatry, once again using movement to foster emotional and mental well-being.

    At its heart, Laughter Ball Yoga is more than just exercise—it’s a way to reconnect with joy, release tension, and navigate life’s challenges with a lighter heart. It brings harmony to the mind, body, and spirit, reminding us that healing can begin with something as simple as a deep breath and a shared laugh.
